I’ve been thinking a lot about loss and grief lately, particularly the loss of family. People often say that time heals all wounds, but in my experience, it doesn’t. Time just gives us more tools to deal with the hurt that’s there and situate it in a larger context. I can’t imagine a time when I don’t hurt about the loss of my dad, but I also know that shows just how much he meant to me. Loss is inevitable, but we keep going on.
